COVID-19 has exposed the fault lines in our societies, as marginalized communities suffer more than others from the pandemic’s effects. COVID-19-related hate speech and discrimination are on the rise, and even medical workers are being stigmatized. But you can speak up on social media -- using #UN75 and #PeaceDay – to challenge misconceptions and express support for those who need it. You can research volunteering opportunities – to assist the most vulnerable members of society. And you can tell your political leaders to keep peace and human dignity front and center as they fight the pandemic.

What does I Am Not Your Negro a 2016 documentary film , based on James Baldwin's unfinished manuscript Remember This House have to do with International Day of Peace ?

Because "Not everything that is faced can be changed , but nothing can be changed until its faced" - James Baldwin

You might think that your kids won't sit and watch this . I saw down and watched it as Logan was playing on his iPad. He would occasional ask a question or I would pause and replay parts I needed to process. My experience the unspoken rule of mommy-hood anytime I doing something alone the kids want to join. I do not expect him to hold this all but it is planting seeds and sparking interest. Logan asked lots of questions afterwards. Logan is almost 9yr and is very sensitive the John Wayne part and lynching part made him tear up . US history is ugly and real . In talking about peace we needed to talk about the reason peace is needed.

"It is a terrible thing for an entire people to surrender to the notion that one ninth of its population is beneath them And until that moment until the moment comes , when we , the Americans we the American people, are able to accept the fact that I have to accept for example. that my ancestors are both with and black that on that continent we are trying to forge a new identity for which we need each other and that I am not a ward of America I am not an object or missional charity , I am one of the people who built the country. Until this moment there is scarcely any hope for the American Dream because people who are denied participation in it , by their very presence,,, will wreck it. And if that happens it is a very grave moment for the West. Thank you," - James Baldwin

I am not religious however I have had times I felt hopeless and using my grandma's remedies helped me I encourage my kids to explore and try things that may help them. Here is a playlist we also used :
